Our story begins at our own operations. John Reitsma began milking cows in Hollister, Idaho, in 1998 and gradually expanded operations to 3500 milking cows. Almost from the onset, the dairy began receiving complaints from the local community of odor problems. After trying a variety of mechanical and enzyme products, the smell just wouldn't go away. John discovered a liquid oxidizing product that stimulated the anaerobic process. After a few weeks, the smell was almost entirely gone. The local community was very pleased with the results and the odor complaints stopped. Of course, John coudln't keep a secret for long and word began to spread. As a result, Dutch Brothers Enterprises was born, which later became Agrakey Solutions, LLC.

A southern Idaho dairy farmer started using UNLOK to treat his lagoons after he heard about the success at many neighboring dairies. He experienced significant odor reduction and, when he applied the treated effluent to his fields, he noticed a drastic improvement in the soil conditions and crop yield. The digested waste from his lagoon went to work on his soil leading to a readily available fertilizer for his crops to uptake. As a result, this dairy farmer has been using UNLOK to treat his lagoons and crops ever since.

Lagoon Treatment

Addressing odors and emissions from animal wastes is becoming an essential part of dairy and swine farm management. As life-long farmers, we have learned what works and what doesn't. We've experienced long lasting odor reductions in our own operations and so have our customers. University research has proven what our customers already know: UNLOK is an effective agent for reducing odors from animal wastes, speeding up the decomposition of organic matter, and creating a readily available fertilizer from your lagoon wastewater.

The sheer numbers of concentrations of animals in the US are enormous. The shift towards larger confined animal feeding operations has led to unintended environmental issues. Many operators are finding increasing levels of regulator activity among both state and federal regulators that are jeopardizing their operations.

UNLOK dairy lagoon treatment formula provides a cost-effective solution for both odor reduction and wastewater fertilizer maximization. By delivering an increased oxidant source to naturally-occuring bacteria, UNLOK enhances the factultative microbial process without expensive equipment or addition of useless foreign bacteria. The UNLOK liquid formula is applied directly into the primary effluent site of wastewater lagoon or with the barn flush water. Dairymen across America have experienced the following benefits when UNLOK is incorporated into their wastewater system.

Reduced odors from sulfur-based compounds (hydrogen sulfide).

Faster decomposition of organic matter which prevents sludge layer buildup.

Cleaner flush alleyways resulting in less down cows.

Lagoon effluent wastewater becomes a source of fertilizer for field crops.

Based upon university research, the treatment of animal slurry caused up to a 90% reduction in odorant concentration levels of volatile fatty acids. The treatment effect is long lasting (over 42 days) because it works with facultative bacteria that have already adapted to their environment and allows them to outcompete anaerobic bacteria that cause hydrogen sulfide odors. In very small doses, UNLOK has proven to be an effective agent to inhibit the formation of foul smelling odors. For more information, see the recent university study conducted at Penn State University.

For the past six years, UNLOK has proven how it can maximize profits for dairymen across America.
